I don’t claim to be perfect. I would like to know if anything I talk about here you disagree with. So far I have gotten no objections whatsoever. If so, how can I get the word et the rest of the acupuncture community to join me in bringing acupuncture into the 21st century? Any suggestions? I am trying to get the word out as best as I can. I realize it is a process and can take time. You can do your part by sharing what you have learned here. I have been told that an article I wrote for Acupuncture Today on my views of what the meridians really are will be published in three parts. They did not tell me when, however. But that should help. I gave them another article on acupuncture points. Hopefully they will publish that too. We shall see. I was hoping my book would be welcomed with open arms. Instead it is being ignored. I am hoping that will change over time. The logic of my presentation is inescapable. That is why I get no arguments. And once you get my book and try my new treatments You will have to conclude I must know what I am talking about. because you will find they do indeed work. That is how I convinced myself.
My treatments
It is not my desire to tell you how to do my treatments here. You will have to buy the book or e-book for that. But I will describe them for you.
Anti-Inflammation Electro-Acupuncture (AIEAC)
This uses an electro-acupuncture machine and works a lot like a cortisone shot. It uses electricity instead of chemistry. Like cortisone, you have to do the right spot for it to work. From treating an inflamed Achilles tendon I know it treats an area about a little smaller than a dime. The big advantage is you can do it as many times as you need. You are not limited to 3 like cortisone. I know treating something like carpal tunnel syndrome you don’t always know where the problem really is. With carpal tunnel, it can be farther up in the palm or farther up in the wrist. So it is nice to not have that limitation. This is the first treatment I came up with and have been using it for over 30 years. It works great. That is if you can locate where the problem is coming from. Now if you can’t locate it for any reason, all is not lost. You can just treat the whole nerve from the spine to the hand or foot with Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM). Mine will take less time and usually less treatments. But from my experience, Both work. Mine typically takes 15 minutes per point. And you can do multiple channels at the same time. So you can easily do 4 points on one limb in a treatment. That will come in handy when treating low back pain where on one side you can easily find 4 or more very tender points (such as L4 and L5 nerve roots, 1 or 2 points along the SI joint, and even at the attachments of the upper band of the gluteus maximus muscle). The upper band gets tight from the pain from the low back. Then pulling on the attachments causes them to become inflamed as well, but that usually doesn’t manifest itself until later but is quite common. I have found AIEAC works great on any inflammation. And if it doesn’t work (no relief but no worsening either) you know you did not get the right spot. And if the patient actually gets worse, you then know it wasn’t inflamed but probably torn or broken or degenerating. So that can guide your next treatment. It is even a good idea to inform your patient of these possibilities. Now you can run into several kinds of problems if you do it wrong. I talk about them in my book and how to avoid them. Depending on the severity of the inflammation, it will usually take only 1-3 treatments per point. You will find the tenderness at the point will decrease or disappear with treatment (even only one oftentimes).
MOVING Extracellular Fluid with Acupuncture (MEFAC)
You can use needles to influence the flow of extracellular fluid. I know it works because I have used it successfully in my practice. I have used it to treat lymph edema. For this there is also an FSM protocol for it. They work good together. You can also use it to help flush out toxins from the tissues. I have done that and it worked. There are frequencies in FSM for toxins but they don’t flush out toxins. The current thinking is that they correct the disturbance on the cell membrane that they cause that makes it behave differently and that is why you don’t get the flu like symptoms when you use FSM for toxins. But they should work good together. My results have been mostly with needles alone. For example, I had a patient who had burning in her feet that the doctors assumed it was a reaction to anesthetics used in a surgery she had. But they offered no treatment for it. She then saw another acupuncturist for eight treatments with no effect on the burning in her feet. A friend of hers suggested she see me, and she did. Right away I knew what the problem was and how to treat it. So I explained it to her and then did the treatment. We got 50% improvement from one treatment! With continuing improvement with follow-up treatments. We then hit a plateau and then I realized I wasn’t treating the channels between the channels (yes there are more channels than you were taught). So, I palpated for points on the additional channels and included them in the treatment and we got further improvement. I have treated lymph edema once with needles alone and once adding FSM to the treatment as well. Both times it worked to improve the swelling. I have also tried it to help with pain in the feet and lower legs due to diabetes and gout. In both cases I was trying to flush out toxins that were bothering the tissues. So how do you do this type of treatment? Get the book.
Anti-Inflammation with Acupuncture (AIAC)
Just sticking a needle in the body can cause an anti-inflammation effect if done correctly. And you don’t need to get qi. Sticking a needle in anywhere in the body causes the free electrons on the skin to travel through the needle (and even through the hole after the needle is pulled out) and collect under the skin. Then electro-osmosis causes the extracellular fluid to move towards the needle. So if you needle an inflamed area but needle shallowly enough to not allow the electrons to get to the site of the inflammation (which would make the inflammation worse) you will get the inflammatory fluids to migrate towards the needle and be carried away by normal processes. So, I suggest needling all tender points with the depth of needle insertion depending on whether you are doing AIEAC on it or not. I will give you this one for free.
repair Tears with Electro-Acupuncture (RTEAC)
If the ahshi is a suspected tear, don’t needle that ahshi point, rather needle on either side of the tear. Then you use a specialized version of electro-acupuncture across the tear. using the proper waveform and frequency, you will reduce pain by releasing endorphins and fill in the tear and strengthen the tendon or meniscus or whatever. The same approach can be used to speed up healing of broken bones. I have treated myself for cracked ribs from a snowboarding accident and was back on the slopes in 3 weeks. I have used it the most on torn meniscus of the knee, but also on rotator cuff tears (catch it early because most patients will wait till it gets bad before seeking help and because it is not a weight bearing joint the tear can be pretty bad or complete. The worse the tear the longer it will take to get relief. Here you are using the electric field to guide the repair process. I describe exactly how to do it and how it works in my book.
Treating Degenerative Tissues (Disks, Joints, etc.)
It happens that degenerating tissues are electro-positive in nature. If you remember your chemistry, electrons (-) are what holds molecules together, so a lack of electrons makes sense. So, if you want to stop the degeneration you just have to supply more electrons to the area. Simple, right? Here is how to do it with acupuncture. Needle the ahshi point (where the degeneration is ). Needle it the way you always would. Getting Qi is fine. Here you are getting the electrons from the surface of the skin. The electrons will go through the needle and collect under the skin to cancel out the positive charge located there, then they will be attracted to the positive charge from the degeneration and once there will slow down of stop the degenerative process. Of course the effect will depend on how much electrons are available to participate. So depending on where the problem is will determine how strong the effect will be with just a needle. I have seen this problem the most with degenerating disks of the spine. This is usually caused by inflamed nerve roots that were not adequately treated. This then caused the disk to become polarized. Then the side of the disk closest to the nerve to become positively charged . Thus starts the degeneration. Have you heard about this anywhere else? Of course not. Doctors are not that smart. But when you palpate your patient, check. If they have a problem with their disk, the associated nerve roots will most likely be tender too. Then you can use the nerve roots for the electrons and can treat both at the same time using an Ion Pumping Chord You could also get them from the lower arm or leg using an electrode pad. Or an electro-acupuncture machine.
Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)
FSM is what I call a needle-less form of electro-acupuncture because it doesn’t use needles. Instead it uses either electrodes like in TENS or a graphite glove (is conductive) wrapped in a warm wet towel so the whole towel becomes an electrode. You place the electrodes so the current goes through the area to be treated. It uses an interferential setup but you put both + leads on one electrode and the – on the other. F1 is the frequency for the condition or problem the tissue is having (like inflammation), while F2 is set to the frequency of the tissue affected (like a nerve). So you have to think more like a doctor than an acupuncturist and think what tissue(s) is involved and what is wrong with it. Ms. McMakin (who essentially brought this technique into the 21’s century has written two books that you should read if you want to learn more about FSM. Her organization also offers workshops for training to become “Certified in FSM”. See http://theresonanceeffect.com/ for more information.
I have been using it in my practice for some time now and usually it does seem to work when you use the right frequencies. All the protocols that come with the machines seem to work when you are using them for what they were designed for. They were developed by Ms. Makin and others by treating people so they will work when used properly for the condition they were designed for. I have also made my own protocols with good results and have also modified protocols (such as increasing the time for inflammation) with good results. You just have to guess right what tissue is involved and what’s wrong with it. The only thing I have found that doesn’t seem to work is removing scars on the skin. Because of its versatility, I recommend the Custom Care device by Precision Distributing, Inc. Of course you can use a signal generator (Such as Models CJDS66-60M, -50M,-40M, -30M AND -15M ) for treatments using only one pair of frequencies is the cheapest way to go to do FSM manually. She also offers beginner and advanced workshops to learn how to do the treatments and what frequencies do what. FSM can be a valuable addition to an acupuncture practice by allowing you to do treatments without needles and allow you to treat things you won’t be able to treat otherwise. I would just add the advice to not use it if the patient has cancer. Microcurrent increases the production of ATP in the cells that see the current so it could increase the cancer cells activity. Maybe you could use it away from the cancer but do you really want to take that chance? My book containes tables that show the kinds of conditions they have protocols for and one that shows what you can do using only two frequencies. Now the precision of frequencies is 0.1 Hz which no electro-acupuncture machine is capable of. One of the machines I am designing will. The Custom-Care has a protocol for Plantar Fascitis that I have found works pretty well. Not as fast as my AIEAC, but doesn’t use needles and you should know that putting needles in the heel is not pleasant. So, having an alternative is nice. I did not make up FSM, but it is worth knowing about for all it offers. It is just expensive to have a machine that can do the protocols.
Research in General
The previous post talks about some research that would be useful. In my book I talk about research that could be done for FSM. But where to get the money? Most of the research done these days is not basic research, but on whether it is good for treating something. This is true in the U.S. in particular. Our field definitely needs to do more .
A few new thoughts on the Meridians.
Previously I have told you what the meridians were and what probably drives their functioning. I have some more thoughts on hat last part. Sincce we have got no views on the circulation in the trunk, we have to guess on that part of the picture. So lets see what makes sense. We know that the fluid must reach near the heart to join the lymphatic fluid and again mix with the blood to continue along it’s way. We also know that there are two mechanisms that have been identified for it’s circulation. They are mechanical pumping by muscle activity and electro-osmosis. So what in the trunk provides those actions continuously? As far as muscle activity , I can think of two possibilities, Breathing, and the heartbeat. They are always working. The lungs are more likely because they have more movement and therefore offer more pumping action. The heart itself offers a lot of electrical activity which might help with electro-osmosis. We also can get electrical activity from chemical activity too so the liver, being the most chemically active organ in the body, must be added to the discussion. Personally, I think the lungs are the most likely source with the others only providing a supporting role if that. I could be wrong, but this makes the most sense to me. So I would focus my research there to look at extra-cellular fluid circulation in the chest. So I would first look at where might the meridian and lymph circulation join which they must.Another problem that must be addressed is how do the individual organs exert their influence on the circulation and how. Because of Drs. Darras and Devernejoul’s research combined with Dr. Nordenstrom’s research, we know there is an electrical component. Some organs like the liver, that is easier to understand. The others less so. And how are they connected to the meridians. They are the most difficult questions technically difficult questions to answer. Right now we only have theoretical answers. Is there another dye that can be used in the trunk to get a view of the circulation in the trunk? Where is the best places to inject it? Should wee start at where the meridians go from the arm or leg into the trunk? Should we as Americans duplicate their work on the limbs first or in conjunction to convince us of the validity of their work? Where would the money for this research come from? Clearly all this must eventually be done in order to shut up the skeptics. And for us to see the whole picture. Anyone have any ideas for any part of this? Using a new dye on the Lung and Large Intestine channels is my though on where to start.Another thought I have is for any electrical activity due to inflammation or degeneration in the organ to affect the channel, the connection must have minimal resistance which in my mind leads me to think there must be a direct connection of the organ to the meridian. This is implied in TCM theory. Now we should prove it. So in conclusion, let me say how I see it. The movement of the lungs provides the pumping action for all the meridians to bring the fluid to the chest and near the heart to join with the lymph fluid. That implies that the circulation in all the meridians should be about the same. We can test for that. Somewhere before that, the organs themselves must connect with their respective channel. Now one thing I don’t know for sure that can influence some of this is the French Drs. claim that inflammation and degeneration of the associating organ affect the flow in every associating channel. Did they see that with all the organs or just with some like the liver? This is another question that needs to be answered for sure. I have proved to myself that needling affects the flow through both knowing the exact mechanism involved and doing it to treat problems associated with poor extra-cellular circulation and getting great results. One other thought. We could see with injecting dye if it is really true that the three yin channels of the leg do join at SP6 like we are taught. And it might be useful to know how that affects the flow in each part of the channels. That could tell us if the affects are additive and divisible. In the vein, It would be nice to the effect on the flow from a single needle. In addition, in the same vein, I can see research outside the body to investigate how much voltage or current is required to cause electro-osmosis and how the strength of the flow relates to voltage/current. Once you know that, you can tell what kind of chemical reactions can cause them. So you see even just here there is a lot of research that can be done.
Now just recently I had a chance to see whether the needling from the distance from the problem or the amount of charge on the skin had the greater influence. It turned out the distance mattered the most. That is nice to know for the future. This was for edema in the neck and jaw area post surgery. First I needled LI16 which helped some. Then I added LI4 which helped more. Then I needled LI11 instead of LI4 and got even better results. So you see, applying what I know has practical value. Yet again. And I learned soething in the pprocess.
Why Botox in the face sometimes has problems
If you have read my explanation of what the meridians are, maybe you have already guessed. Basic question, if you inject it into a meridian, where do you think it will go? If you inject it in the face, it will follow the meridian down towards the heart. And it will diffuse into surrounding tissues as it goes. Look where the Stomach and Large Intestine channels go. Need I say more? And remember, the meridians are pretty wide as far as the circulation of extra-cellular fluid goes. I am actually surprised they don’t ave more problems than they do. Maybe it is because the flow would tend to be stronger the closer you get to the center of the meridian. Anyway, that is my explanation. Makes sense doesn’t it?
The proof is in these pages and posts
What I describe in these pages and posts is the real scientific acupuncture, not just in name only. The proof is in the reading. I give you the basics here. If I have gotten something wrong, tell me. So far I hve not heard one objection to anything. Some things confirm the TCM view of things. Some shows where TCM gets it wrong. And some only reinterprets the TCM view. And to be fair, I also show things Western medicine didn’t know either. Both have things to learn from each other. I don’t have all the answers. And it seems I am getting a lot of resistance from the acupuncture community. I don’t get it. Do they think the TCM view of things is all there is? Hogwash! Knowledge always marches forward. Even the Chinese have come up with a new way to use electro-acupuncture to treat cancer. And it correlates exactly with my views by using bio-electric phenomena. Dr. Nordenstrom used it differently but still successfully. That is the power of polarized electro-acupuncture if you know what you are doing. And some of it you can do with just a needle. You didn’t even new you were doing it yourself sometimes. Shouldn’t you know what you are doing when you stick a needle in someone? Right now you don’t unless you have gone through the information on this website. You thought you did but you really don’t. So educate yourself. It will make you a better acupuncturist.

I have just reviewed the pages and posts here to fix spelling and grammatical errors as well as adding some new content. So if a particular part of this site interests you you might want to revisit it.
Research
Most of what I talk about is known phenomenon. The rest is fairly new research that has not been duplicated that I know about. But as I explain, it makes perfect sense. As far as my new treatments are concerned, of course not. Where am I going to get the money? The acupuncture community itself does not support any research that I know of. But I have tried them on myself and patients with their informed consent and they do work as expected. Try them yourself if you don’t believe me. You will find they do work as claimed. Then maybe you will take me seriously. FSM does have research on that treatments for inflammation and breaking up scarring do work. Read her books. But there is no adequate research on what is it resonating with? Another area that needs more research. I even suggest some experiments.
But then again, have there been good controlled double blind experiments for classical acupuncture? That is proving hard to do because there can be no such thing as sham acupuncture. Because you will get certain predictable effects needling anywhere on the body. So the western model of how to do research is not applicable. It just can’t be done! So I would use a new model that can get us the information we want. For example use as controls points that you know will not give you the effect you want to study. Or even use points that will give you the opposite effect. Although that may not be desirable for several reasons.
So for now just read my book and try the methods for yourself. Prove it to yourself that they do work (mine). I explain to you why they work. I have proved to myself that they do work, which I knew they should. I describe several phenomena involved with acupuncture you are not aware of and probably don’t even understand. But I give you the information so you can. It is up to you to educate yourself. I’d love to know if something I say in my book is wrong. So far I have received none whatsoever. My conclusions are scientific and logical. And they conform with my over 30 years of clinical experience. I have the education and experience that should tell you I probably know what I am talking about. Read my book, try my new treatments for yourself and you will discover I do know what I’m talking about. Because they will work for you just like they work for me if you use them appropriately. And if you have any questions I’m glad to answer them.
There are many different Styles of Acupuncture
There are the styles associated with different countries. Prominent among them is Chinese of course, Japanese and Korean. And then there is 5-element. And then there are different systems with their own way of doing things. And of course there are the micro-systems.Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Every acupuncturist gravitates to their own way of doing things according to their interests and schooling.
I was trained in TCM with a mix of Japanese and the micro-systems of the ear, hand and scalp. We were not taught that much about electro-acupuncture. I have always liked to know how things work which is why I became an engineer first. So I had to figure it out on my own. I do things now the way I have found works the best for me. I also think I understand why it works and have adapted my techniques to that knowledge and have found that it makes things work better. That knowledge has allowed me to also make up new treatments that have also worked. I decided to use my time recovering from my stroke to write. My book is the first one I finished. It pretty much has all I have learned that I was not taught. My electrical engineering background was useful since it turns out that acupuncture depends on several bio-electrical phenomenon for how it works. I made this website to share that knowledge. To let acupuncturists know why things work the way they do and to share new helpful techniques. Idon’t claim to know everything, but what I do know has proven quite useful.
It is not hard to understand how it works.
You will find my explanations on this site perfectly reasonable and sensible. And where I expect you won’t understand (the bio-electric explanations) I present them in a way you should have no trouble with. So far, I have not gotten ANY objections to ANY of my explanations. And if you have any, I’d like to hear them.
My understandings have allowed me to 1) make my regular treatments work better and more reliably. 2) Allows me to do things with just a needle that I wasn’t taught in school such as how to stop a degenerative pprocess or to reduce an inflammatory process. 3) Develop an electro-acupuncture technique that works like cortisone without the downsides of cortisone. 4) Develop techniques to treat torn tendons, etc. and broken bones. 5) How to treat problems due to poor circulation of extra-cellular fluid. 6)a better way to needle when doing scalp acupuncture. 7) You can use a point locator to find the points you should needle in scalp acupuncture. 8) More lines on the scalp. And there might be more to come. Stay tuned. Other things I cover in my book are how magnets really work to treat the body. How light therapy works. A new diagnostic technique using a point locator. What frequencies increase muscle tone and why. What frequencies don’t do that. What frequencies I have found to work best in treating pain and when to use them. And an introduction to Ryodoraku.
