Earthing

I have just been introduced to this from a friend of mine. It is basically a treatment wherein you ground yourself to the earth. You do this naturally when you go outside barefooted or go swimming in a lake, river or the ocean. We evolved being grounded to the earth. We even slept that way when we slept on the ground. That changed the most profoundly when we started wearing shoes (Especially rubber or plastic soles shoes). Now we are almost never grounded to the earth.

Research has shown that even a half hour session has profound effects on our physiology. It helps calm the nervous system and improve sleep. It helps regulate our biological rythyms. It acts like an antioxidant and thus helps treat inflammation anywhere in the body, thus helping with pain. There are indications it can speed healing. Even athletes use it to improve performance and speed recovery from injuries.

You don’t even have to be outside. In newer construction, the ground part of an electrical outlet is connected to either a metal rod driven into the earth or water supply pipes that are buried in the ground outside. So, you can connect something like a metal plate that is big enough to put both feet on to it. Or you could connect it to electrode pads and place them on the hands or feet. Since the body is mostly made up of water with minerals, it is very conductive and the electrons can flow freely in the body, are attracted to the free radicals (which are positively charged) and neutralize them. That then stops the inflammation from occurring. This is a different process than my Anti-inflammation Electro-Acupuncture (AIEAC) works by. The book “Earthing” by Clinton Ober, Stephen T. Some of you might be Earthing off and on without even knowing it. If your home has copper water supply lines and metal sink fixtures, you probably are grounded every time you touch the fixture or wash your hands (water constantly running). That is because the supply line leaving the house touches the ground and the connection to the street is likely buried. And if you live in an older home with cast iron drain pipes as well as supply lines, you are grounded when you take a bath.

I have copper supply pipes so I have been grounding intermittently for years so I don’t expect much. So far all I can say is I do feel something like a small current when I do it. But I am fairly sensitive. I can feel Qi (I learned Therapeutic Touch before I studied acupuncture) and I can feel FSM as well. FSM has more of a buzzy feel to it though and runs at 100uA typically. So I know I  feel microamps. So far the only thing that seems to have changed is my blood oxygen went up a bit from a typical reading of 92% to 95%. No help with blood pressure yet. And I do feel slightly more relaxed. None of it seems to last that long. One other thing it seems to do is make your blood flow more freely by keeping the red blood cells from clumping. It seems that the electrons supplied by Earthing increase the negative charge on the cell membrane which drives them apart (like charges repel each other) thus keeping them from clumping together. The body seems to really like being grounded.

I have been doing simple experiments measuring the resistance between acupuncture points with various setups (needle to needle or pad to pad) I have noticed the natural capacitance of the skin does not discharge that fast. And I thought Earthing would charge the skin’s capacitance. So I did earthing on myself for several hours annd then measured myself on two points I had already done. The resistance started at a much higher level (several M Ohm as opposed to several K Ohms the first time). That showed that Earthing does charge up the capacitance of the skin and it will not have discharged a half a day later.

I thought that taking a shower might discharge the capacitance of the skin. So I ccompared the resistance between SJ5-9 on my left arm. The first time I did it several days ago it started at around 400,000 ohms. Before my shower it was around 3.5MOhm (I had been doing some Earthing to see what that would do – it charged up the skin like I thought it would do and did not discharge that fast). After my shower, it was around 900,000 ohms. So I must conclude that taking a shower will discharge your skin. My shower was about 30 minutes. Maybe a longer shower would allow complete discharge.
