Many of you seem to be interested in TENS.Tens is not as useful as you might think. I started using it myself when I graduated. But I quickly discovered it’s limitations. For example, many of the machines at that time worked at 10 Hz. And that didn’t work as well as expected. But no one knew why. But I quickly found out thanks to one of my patients. 10 Hz caused an increase in muscle tightness or spasminess. That then irritated the muscle attachments which then caused inflammation and pain. Cancelling out the effect of the increased release of endorphins. It is a simple resonance with the firing rate of muscle nerve fibers. So, the device makers went to different frequencies that didn’t have that effect. But even here, they are nowhere near the effectiveness of my electro-acupuncture anti-inflammation treatment. That is because I am taking their treatment a step further by using a polarized waveform to treat the inflammation directly while still using frequencies that release endorphins. This works better than cortisone for two reasons. You are not injecting anything, so there will be less potential for pain. Second, I can do it as many times as is needed and am not limited to three shots like cortisone. So it won’t matter if I am having trouble finding the right spot to treat. And if I am, I can always use Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) instead and just treat the whole nerve instead. Now I have used a continuous a.c. signal to increase muscle tone, but that is not that common since pain increases muscle tone and spasminess. So I am usually dealing with pain with inflammation and muscle tension/spasminess.Simply put, I just have better ways to treat pain than TENS. But you still have to be aware of possible problems you can run into with my method. So, you need to know how to do it correctly as I explain in my books.
