When I was teaching electroacupuncture many of my students weren’t very interested in learning about the science. They liked the fact that traditional acupuncture was low tech. And they wanted to practice that way, despite my trying to explain the benefits of the “technology” of acupuncture in making their treatments work better and allowing them to do more. That is even more true now.
And then there is the language of TCM. For us practitioners, we by and large understand it but it is mysterious to lay people. But as I have explained elsewhere, even TCM needs to be reevaluated. Some of TCM beliefs are validated in these pages, but others have been shown to need to be reinterpreted and even some have been proven to be just wrong. You must come to terms with these facts. But that’s how science evolves. And the knowledge I am sharing on this site will make you a better and more competent practitioner. And if you buy my book and learn to do my treatments as well as FSM, you will learn how to treat more things than you currently can now or treat them better/faster.
You will find my explanations easy to understand and make sense. I wrote my book to share my knowledge. I built this site to make the basics available worldwide for free. I have let the schools know about my book and this site so they can learn and adjust their curriculum accordingly. Bringing East and West together is my gift to the acupuncture community. And it should bring us more acceptance in the medical community. And I am not done. In addition of the new treatments I describe in my book, I am working on several more. Like my bone-on-bone joint treatment I talk about elsewhere. And several d.c. treatments. And then there’s the basic research I want to do. So one way or another I will make acupuncture a true science and bring it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. So join me in the revolution or stick to the old ways of doing things and defend the indefensible.
