Shingles and Post Herpetic Neuralgia

If you don’t bother to get the vaccine for shingles, then you run the risk of getting it. Both are very painful and hard to treat. I have recently had a chance to treat both with Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM). I had heard it works but hadn’t had a chance to try it until recently.

The stories are indeed true. Both protocols work surprisingly well. I was able to get the shingles patient pain free by the end of each treatment and was done after only 4 treatments. The only negative part was she had to come in every day or every other day. Supposedly you have to start treatment within two weeks of onset. She was one week in.

Now the PHN patient had been suffering for several years with numbness and pain in his arms after an attack of shingles. So I tried the FSM protocol for it (there are actually 2) We tried the longer one for two treatments and it helped some. Then we did the second one which mainly treats the nerves. That one worked even better for him. His numbness is gone and his pain is much reduced. So, there is hope if you get either condition. Especially if you catch it in time.

New Treatments Coming

My creativity continues to provide me with more things to try. With FSM it is more trying protocols I haven’t had a chance to try yet. So far they do indeed work for what they were designed to treat. I have had a chance to try the Shingles protocol. It only took 4 treatments to fix. And it stopped the pain by the end of every treatment. You just had to treat every day or every other day. they say you have to start treatment within 2 weeks of onset. I saw her 1 week in. I am treating Post Herpetic Neuralgia currently. That protocol also seems to help (There are actually 2 protocols). I will learn more as treatment continues. After his first treatment using the 2nd protocol (which focuses on the nerves mainly and takes less time to run) his numbness went away and stayed gone. His pain was less to but still had some. I thought I’d let you know. Since these are difficult to treat,

I am finally treating a bone-on-bone knee joint with my treatment. All I can say so far is that after running it for only 1-1/2 hours helped with her pain. That is a pretty good start. After running it 8 hours more she was pain free for 4 days and felt so good she make soup in the kitchen standing a long time. That she couldn’t do before. But she paid for it the next day with pain returning. So I can say it is helping with pain. Regrowing the meniscus is another question. When she stays pain free she will go to her doctor and have it looked at. Judging by the relief in pain, it may be from release of endorphins from the frequency I am using or it can be by providing at least a little cushion to the joint. Or both. The only other treatment I know of that releases endorphins without the patient feeling anything is FSM. So now we have another treatment to help with pain without using needles. So, either way it was worth doing. I suspect we are growing tissue since I am stimulating a phenomena that happens naturally in the body under certain circumstances. I know EXACTLY how this should work. The only real question is how long it takes. The relief in pain is a bonus.

Now there are a few treatments using d.c. (a constant voltage). Electro-acupuncture machines are not designed to do these types of treatments. So, I am designing and building one myself. There are three treatments it will be capable of. 1) The Chinese new treatment for treating cancer tumors. Here you put regular acupuncture needles directly in the tumor. You then apply 3.0 volts for 10 minutes. You then get ions of the metal (iron and nickle mainly) driven in the tumor at the positive pole. They are toxic to the tumor cells, killing them. At the negative pole, the water molecules are broken into hydrogen and oxygen atoms. That changes the pH of the tumor again killing the tumor cells. 2) treating severe infections with silver ions electronically impregnated into the tissues. and 3) Causing fibroblasts to differentiate (becoming like stem cells) and stimulating regenerative healing. I’m hoping to use the last two to treat scars and other shin blemishes. At the very least, I will find out something about where the cell gets the information to turn into the proper type of cell when it regenerates.Either from the field produced by the whole organism or from nearby cells. My treatment will work with one and not with the other. We shall see. I just ave to build a device to do the treatment. Theoretically that shouldn’t be that hard but I am working with only one hand (stroke). Soldering is really hard with one hand but my technique is getting better.

How am I doing?

I wrote my book and made this website to help make acupuncture a true science in peoples eyes and bring it into the 21st century. Am I succeeding? Have I explained things well enough? If not, where am I failing? So far I am getting very little feedback. I have gotten a little encouragement. And some complaints on where is the research to back up what I claim. I did not do the research. the work I reference is in books in my references section. My views are backed up by over 30 years in practice. By putting my ideas to work and seeing what happens. And my views have been born out. By applying what I know I have been able to help patients that were not helped by other practitioners (both Chinese and Western). So I know that my treatments work, and work like and how I expected them to. So I know my views are correct. The challenge now is to convince you. So read these pages and posts. Then buy my book and learn how to do my treatments. By using them appropriately you will be convinced they do work as claimed. Then maybe you wiill take me seriously. Then we can together move acupuncture into the 21st century.

Degeneration

Degeneration is the name given to tissue destruction. Electrically, this involves the loss of electrons which causes molecules to fall apart. Electrons are what forms the bonds between atoms. It has been shown (see for example Dr. Bjorn Nordenstroms work) that degeneration is associated with a positive charge. This is how free radicals cause their damage, by taking electrons from nearby tissues. Supplying electrons to a degenerative process can slow or stop the degenerative process.
As an acupuncturist, this is easy to do if the degeneration is superficial. For example, a degenerating spinal disk can easily be treated by needling the Du channel point associated with the disk or the side of the disk nearest the inflamed nerve root that caused it in the first place.. Basically, you are moving the free electrons on the surface of the skin to the disk. Breaking the skin reduces the resistance of the skin and provides a direct path for the electrons to get to the problem area. And by breaking the skin, you allow the electrons on the skin a free path even when the needle is removed until the hole is healed. Or if it was caused by a chronically inflamed nerve root which then polarized the disk material, you might do better to needle a little to the side of the Du channel. And if the nerve root is still tender (and still inflamed) you can just move the electrons from the nerve root to the disk degeneration and thus treat both at the same time. Since the electrons at the spine are not as abundant as on the lower arm or leg, you could use an electrode pad to supply more electrons. I have done all these things and they have proven to work. If you have a patient with back pain, palpate to find where the pain is coming from. If the Du channel point(s) is/are tender, it is either torn or broken or degenerative. Their age and history will tell you which it is. For a younger patient it is probably torn or broken and if the patient is older it is probably degenerative. If it is torn or broken, the FSM protocols for the disk (acute, sub-acute or chronic) work well. Otherwise, needle it and supply electrons.
When it comes to spinal disks, degeneration can be caused by an inflamed nerve root that wasn’t adequately treated. The inflamed nerve becomes negatively charged. Over time, this can cause nearby tissues to become polarized. Basically, because like charges repel each other, the electrons in nearby tissues (here the disk material) are driven away making the part of the disk nearest the nerve electrically positive and the distal side of the disk electro-negative. Thus, the disk becomes polarized and the side nearest the nerve starts to become degenerative.
Earthing, by supplying the body with extra electrons, probably also can slow or stop a degenerative process as well. Supposedly, one way it works is by supplying the electrons the free radicals are looking for, thus preventing their destructive potential. This is a cheap way a patient can treat themselves.

A bit about myself and how I came to these views

I studied Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech. While there I came across two books on Kirlian Photography. One of them talked about acupuncture points unusual electrical properties. It mentioned a Rumanian doctor who made a table to take a Kirlian photograph of the whole back which he could diagnose organ problems by the associated acupuncture points would “light up”. I have since found I an do the same thing with a point dector and a roller electrode. It seems to find functional disturbances before there is any pathology.

Anyway, that got me interested in bio-engineering but Georgia Tech did not have a good program in that so I minored in Fiber Optics instead. I did after coming to Seattle to work for Boeing, build my own Kirlian photography equipment to do my own research. Too many variables to control to be that useful. Mainly showed the resistive properties of the object photographed. Mainly by a high voltage corona discharge phenomena. Around that time I also learned /therapeutic Touch and learned about German Electro-diagnostic techniques. they were measuring the electrical activity at the well points. Eventually, I decided to go to acupuncture school and turn my hobby into a career. When I was in my first year, I attended a conference in LA where I heard Dr. Bernard Nordenstrom talk about his research, and the French researchers Dr. Devernaajoul and Dr. Darras talked about their research injecting Technicium99 into acupuncture points. As far as I know, no one has duplicated any of the research. It took me a few years to put it all together. And with Dr. Becker’s work, I know electricity played a role. So my conclusions are not from my own research, but putting together pieces from other’s work. And then trying new techniques I developed from this knowledge on my patients (with their informed consent, of course). And, lo and behold, they worked! My Anti-Inflammation Electro-Acupuncture (AIEAC) technique I have been using for over 10 years now and it works almost every time if done right. And if it doesn’t work, I know either I needled too deeply or it wasn’t inflamed but torn or broken or degenerating. And the meridians must be connected with the flow of extra-cellular fluid because when I needle the channels to influence that flow with electro-osmosis, it did help like I thought it would. In fact it worked better than I thought it would. My AIEAC also works via electro-osmosis. If you want to know more about it, read his book.

When it comes to electro-acupuncture and the effects of different frequencies, Dr. Han’s work covers it pretty well, although I have found some things they don’t cover, like the effect of various frequencies on muscle tone, and the problem using 2/100 Hz in Dense-Disperse mode. Those I discovered by doing treatments. I use 15 and 100 Hz most, especially for pain. I discovered 15 Hz when I learned that is the frequency used in machines used to heal non-union fractures.

No matter what you think of my book, There are some things you must accept. The meridians are involved with the circulation of extracellular fluid, helping the lymphatics when we are inactive or sleeping. Electro-osmosis is a major bio-electric phenomena at work in acupuncture and causing some of the healing effects of acupuncture when needled appropriately for the problem. Also, needling moves electrons on the surface of the skin and moving that charge can help treat both inflammation and degeneration when done properly. My book tells you how to do it and why it works. Learn how to do them. See they really work. Then maybe you will accept that I must know what I am talking about. I was just fortunate enough to have the background and interests to get the right knowledge and be able to put it all together into a sensible whole.

This is my first book, I tried to organize it as best as I could, but it is not perfect. If you have suggestions, I’d like to hear them. I’m not perfect but I am a pretty good acupuncturist. Like my homepage says “”Making Acupuncture a true science and bringing it into the 21st century”. That is my goal. That is my contribution.

Treating Long Haul Symptoms of COVID-19

You wouldn’t think acupuncture could help but you are wrong. I am not your usual acupuncturist. I know things and have treatments that other acupuncturists don’t. With COVID, the problem with long haul patients can be broadly categorized into two categories. First is scarring of the lungs and bronchials. I have treated that successfully before with Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM). Most acupuncturists haven’t even heard of it. I am about the only acupuncturist in Puget Sound who does it. Breaking up scarring is one thing FSM is good at except skin scarring. I have used it successfully in treating scarring in the lungs and bronchials from strong coughing. I have also used it successfully to treat trigger finger. So using it to help with pain and difficulty breathing should work. There are no acupuncture points to treat scarring that I know of but LU1 and Ren17 do help open the chest too help with breathing. If the lung pulse is weak, LU1 can also down-regulate the immune system.

The other symptoms of long haul COVID all seem too be related to inflammation of organ tissues such as the heart, kidneys, lungs, liver and the brain. Inflammation of the blood vessels may be behind it all. All that can be also treated with FSM. You just combine the frequency for the tissue involved with the frequency for either acute or chronic inflammation. You just then run the current through the affected area. Those kinds of frequency combinations seem to always work. For inflammation all over the body, I always add LI11. For low energy, I would consider LU1, ST36, and DU20. Some of the pain and low energy symptoms may be due to a process similar to that seen in chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. In which case LU1 DU20,and LI11 are key.If they are having a lot of joint pain, you can’t treat all the affected areas because of the fatigue. You might only be able to treat 1 or 2 areas directly. And even then you will probably have to add DU20 at the end of the treatment to help them get home safely.

Now I have not had to treat anyone with long haul symptoms yet. But I am sure I can help. And there are frequencies for arteries, veins, and the capillaries. So now you know in general what I would do.

I now know that there have been FSM protocols developed for treating COVID-19 after it has been first diagnosed to keep you out of the hospital. Supposedly it works pretty well.

Treating Inflammation

Earthing and AIEAC, Resolving the Conumdrums

Both AIEAC AND Earthing can treat inflammation. They work by entirely different mechanisms, however. Earthing claims that inflammation is associated with positive charge. Yes, and no. It is the free radicals that cause the inflammation by stripping electrons from nearby tissues thereby causing degeneration which then triggers the immune system to react that then causes the inflammation. Earthing, by supplying electrons to the body, neutralizing the free radicals and thus prevents the resulting inflammatory reaction. The inflamed tissues are not themselves electro-positive. Although, by having their electrons stripped away, they do become positively charged which starts the degeneration. The positive charge would also drive water away by electro-osmosis. It is the immune reaction that causes the inflammation.

Now When I learned about Dr. Nordensttrom’s work and his discovery of electroosmosis, I thought up AIEAC (Anti-Inflammation Electro-Acupuncture) to treat inflammation with electricity. I thought that maybe inflammation may be in part due to an excess negative charge. Or at least, by pulling electrons from the area, I could reduce inflammation by electroosmosis. So, I tried it and it worked! I have been using it for over 10 years now and it works if you do it right. There are only two reasons why it won’t work and make the patient worse, not better. First and the most likely cause is it is not inflamed but torn or broken. Then, by removing more electrons you will make it worse, not better. Second is if you needle too deep, you can cause more damage, which will again make things worse. Now, if free radicals are involved, and you needle into the area where they are at, and you pull more electrons out of the area, you will again make it worse by causing more damage  by breaking down the tissues even more. So, by looking at what is really going on in each case, we can understand how each works. Inflammation by itself doesn’t have a particular charge, but it can be influenced by charge. Too much AIEAC can do harm by drying out the tissues (which is how Dr. Nordenstrom actually killed inoperable lung tumors). It can start a degenerative process. It will drive ions of the metal into the tissues which will cause a “freckle” at the needle if done too long (and the ions of the metal may be toxic to the tissues. On the other hand, if you use a silver needle (or one silver-coated), silver is an antibiotic and can help with infection. In addition silver ions also can cause human fibroblast tissues to de differentiate to then be used in regeneration of tissues. So, even “bad” effects can be used for good if you know what you are doing. That is what makes scientific acupuncture different than regular acupuncture.

So how does AIEAC work? By sucking out electrons from the area, you make it less electro-negative and more electro-positive. That means that due to electro-osmosis, it will cause water to be less attracted to the area or actually drive water out. Even if it isn’t in the inflammation, it will still push water out of the area so if it is close enough to the inflammation, it will push water into areas where the lymphatics and acupuncture meridians can carry it away. Also, the positive charge can attract eexcess electrons from the area of inflammation, further reducing the accumulation of water into the area. So, in short, if you don’t needle too deep, you will get an anti-noninflammatory reaction, one way or another.

The Direction of flow in the meridians.

I have told you that the research of the French doctors shows us that the extra-cellular fluid in the meridians flows always from the periphery to towards the heart. That goes against TCM theory of Qi flow in the meridians. But what are we defining as the Qi in the meridians? Is is the extracellular fluid itself (the quality of the fluid)? Is it the flow of the extracellular fluid? Or is it something else? And if so what? We know that charge is associated with the flow and that the charge follows a diurnal cycle. So you could say that the direction of flow is associated with whether the sympathetic or parasympathetic nervous system is in dominance. That is the only way I have thought of that can correlate with TCM theory. But that doesn’t really correlate with flow of any kind directly. Flow must be associated with the extracellular fluid. That is the only thing that makes sense to me. Besides, TCM theory also states that the qi of the meridians moistens and nourishes the tissues. That implies that the qi of the channels is associated with the circulation of extracellular fluid after all. . We can understand why the Chinese got that wrong. But now we know better. And knowing this we can design new treatments, which I have done and they work! Further validating my views. Try them for yourself. Then maybe you will accept what I claim. And if you have any objections to anything, give me the science where I am wrong. I have simply taken advantage of research done by others. If you want to know more, read their books. I have lots of ideas for useful research but no money, so I focus myself on new treatments which I can do. So far, most but not all of them have worked.

Lasers and Light Therapy

Definitions

Laser – A device that emits a beam of light which is both monochromatic and coherent.

Monochromatic – Literally means “one color”. Sunlight emits over a broad spectrum as can be evidenced by the prismatic effect in a rainbow where the individual frequency components are spread out into a palette of colors. With light sources such as lasers and LED’s it refers to their very narrow or single frequency emission spectrum.

Monochromaticity can therefore be thought of as referring to the “purity” of the color of a light source.

Coherence– Refers to the phase relationships of the individual photon emissions of a light source. An incoherent light source (such as an incandescent light bulb) emits light in many directions at once with the individual photon emissions occurring totally at random. A coherent light source (such as a laser) generally emits light in a narrow beam with the individual photon emissions occurring synchronously (i.e. in phase).

Laser Diode – A type of semiconductor diode whose design creates a resonant cavity inside its crystalline structure which causes the emitted light to be both monochromatic and coherent.

LED – “Light Emitting Diode” A type of semiconductor diode whose design causes the emission of monochromatic but not coherent light. Does not contain a resonant cavity.

Lux – Unit of measure for light intensity. 1 lux = 1 candlepower (“brightness of a candle”)

Light Therapy

Light impulses entering the eye fall on photoreceptors in the eye (the rods and cones) and are transformed into nerve impulses which are then sent to the brain. Some travel to the visual cortex and construct images while others travel to the hypothalamus where they influence both the autonomic nervous system and the endocrine system. These influences on the ANS and endocrine system are strongly related to our biological rhythms. For example, the rhythms of day and night act on our system to encourage us to be more active during the day and rest at night. Seasonal changes in the number of hours of daylight affect our sex hormones to encourage procreation during the summer months so that we give birth the next spring — where chances of survival for the infant are the best. In short, we have evolved to adapt to the daily and seasonal changes in sunlight to enhance the survival of our species.

In modern times we find ourselves less exposed to natural sunlight than our ancestors (working indoors instead of outdoors for example) and more exposed to artificial light sources such as incandescent & fluorescent lamps. Since these artificial light sources have different spectral characteristics than natural sunlight, we are no longer exposed to the same frequencies and intensities of light that we evolved under. Thus, biological mechanisms which had evolved to respond to natural sunlight are thrown off to some degree. Alternatively, once we understand these response mechanisms, they can also be used therapeutically.

German researchers have discovered that when cells die, they emit photons1. The adjacent cells are then stimulated to divide to replace the cell that died. So, light therapy is also used to stimulate healing. Again, red light sources are often used because they are cheap and penetrates deep in the tissues. Although GaAlAs and GaAs lasers penetrate the deepest, mostly due to their higher power.

In addition, any chemical reaction can be sped up by putting energy into the system (think of heat as one example). Heat is just one part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Light is just another part of the spectrum at a higher frequency (or shorter wavelength). Even genetic expression of a cell can be influenced by a change in temperature. And, just as we talked about resonances earlier, some structures can be sensitive to certain wavelengths of light as well as the frequency it is turned on and off. For example, lasers are used in cancer therapy by getting a substance that will vibrate (thus generating heat) into the cancer cells. Then radiating the cells with the proper frequency of light will heat up the cells and can selectively kill them. When using light to treat the body, it is best used to stimulate healing. Red light is usually used because red leds are cheap and widely available. And it penetrates the skin pretty well. Light stimulation ca help in two ways. First, it can stimulate cell division. Second, it will speed up cellular processes by speeding up chemical reactions. Research has demonstrated that ATP activity is stimulated1. In addition, many of the machines on the market use many LEDs to cover a larger area and provide brighter stimulation. Although LED’s are very efficient, they still produce some heat. Not nearly as much as an incandescent bulb, but it can be felt if the LEDs are close to the skin. Even the device I built produces a little heat (see Figure below). So, we must assume that this kind of treatment can possibly improve circulation by heating the tissues. I myself have treated myself with a device I built that uses a red 50 milliwatt red LED. I had a cyst on my cheek. After draining it as best as I could, I irradiated it 2x a day for about 5 minutes each time and it definitely speeded up the healing from what it was doing before I treated it with the LED.  The remaining pus and blood disappeared, and the remaining dent started filling in with tissue. Also, the discoloration mostly went away. The results were noticeable after only two days. So, it really does work and I know why. Now you do too. 1) “Electromagnetic Bio-Information” by Fritz-Albert Popp and others, Urban & Schwarzenberg, Munich, Germany, Copyright 1989.
