Degeneration

Degeneration is the name given to tissue destruction. Electrically, this involves the loss of electrons which causes molecules to fall apart. Electrons are what forms the bonds between atoms. It has been shown (see for example Dr. Bjorn Nordenstroms work) that degeneration is associated with a positive charge. This is how free radicals cause their damage, by taking electrons from nearby tissues. Supplying electrons to a degenerative process can slow or stop the degenerative process.
As an acupuncturist, this is easy to do if the degeneration is superficial. For example, a degenerating spinal disk can easily be treated by needling the Du channel point associated with the disk or the side of the disk nearest the inflamed nerve root that caused it in the first place.. Basically, you are moving the free electrons on the surface of the skin to the disk. Breaking the skin reduces the resistance of the skin and provides a direct path for the electrons to get to the problem area. And by breaking the skin, you allow the electrons on the skin a free path even when the needle is removed until the hole is healed. Or if it was caused by a chronically inflamed nerve root which then polarized the disk material, you might do better to needle a little to the side of the Du channel. And if the nerve root is still tender (and still inflamed) you can just move the electrons from the nerve root to the disk degeneration and thus treat both at the same time. Since the electrons at the spine are not as abundant as on the lower arm or leg, you could use an electrode pad to supply more electrons. I have done all these things and they have proven to work. If you have a patient with back pain, palpate to find where the pain is coming from. If the Du channel point(s) is/are tender, it is either torn or broken or degenerative. Their age and history will tell you which it is. For a younger patient it is probably torn or broken and if the patient is older it is probably degenerative. If it is torn or broken, the FSM protocols for the disk (acute, sub-acute or chronic) work well. Otherwise, needle it and supply electrons.
When it comes to spinal disks, degeneration can be caused by an inflamed nerve root that wasn’t adequately treated. The inflamed nerve becomes negatively charged. Over time, this can cause nearby tissues to become polarized. Basically, because like charges repel each other, the electrons in nearby tissues (here the disk material) are driven away making the part of the disk nearest the nerve electrically positive and the distal side of the disk electro-negative. Thus, the disk becomes polarized and the side nearest the nerve starts to become degenerative.
Earthing, by supplying the body with extra electrons, probably also can slow or stop a degenerative process as well. Supposedly, one way it works is by supplying the electrons the free radicals are looking for, thus preventing their destructive potential. This is a cheap way a patient can treat themselves.
